Moonlight Beach Encinitas

Moonlight Beach is one of the many jewels in the beach-community crown of Encinitas, California. It’s located in a residential neighborhood at the bottom of a steep incline that gently slopes into the Pacific Ocean. The word “moonlight” in the name comes from the fact that in the early 1900s, residents used to come to the area for midnight picnics.

This well-loved beach receives a lot of face-time by local volleyball players because of the three beach courts. And with a large playground, ample picnic tables, lifeguards, and snack bar, it’s family-friendly and perfect for a picnic or a day in the sun. The icing on the cake? Plenty of clean restrooms and showers.

Moonlight is the ultimate california beach.why?because its close to the encinitas surfboards surfshop, has a board rental,and has amaaazing vollyball courts.theres also a snack stand.the food is great.

I love this place because of the different activities that take place here, it brings our community closer together. I also feel safe becuse of the number of lifeguards that are on duty.

I love this beach, it is the beast beach to surf, body board, swim, and just have fun. It has a great family atmosphere. Experienced life guards, great snack bar, volleyball courts. I love it!!!

Great beach! Great bodyboarding(boogieboarding), skimboarding, and surfing. Great waves i loved it. Skimboarding is great because where the tide rolls in is very flat so you can go all across the beach on one run. Where you sit is on a small slant, and behind and above that is a flatter section so you can get a greater view. To all you volleyball lover out there, there is 4 beach volleyball courts on the sand. You will have a great time here bring the whole family. Have a great time!

This has to be one of the better kept secrets of San Diego. It is a great beach, friendly people, friendly surf, and great dolphins! A surfer's paradise especially for beginers who need consistant waves that range from knee high to chest high depending on the tide and wind. With a great local community nearby and a world class playground just off the 5, you really couldn't ask for a better vacation spot for the whole family.

This is the greatest beach I've ever visited with its' small "beach town feel" and great open areas. Bon fire allowed in fire pits and parking is ample.
